History

Caterham Pumas was founded in July 1998 from an after school club.

From a single team of mixed ages we embarked on our first season. Over the next two seasons we grew to an impressive ten teams playing in two leagues from under 8s upwards.

We have always been strong advocates of mini soccer and concentrated on this with all the teams starting at this level. Constant development, along with summer training and open days encourage all those who want to play to do so.

We have quickly grown into a recognised football club and currently have more than twenty teams, spanning over ten age groups competing in the Epsom and Ewell League,  Surrey Youth League,  Surrey Womens And Girls League and the Tandridge League. We also have two adult teams playing in the Redhill and District League. We have formed a veteran team made up of coaches and parents of players who love the game of football. Our first game was played on Wednesday 1st August 2012 against Sevenoaks Yellow (Pumas won 3-1.!).

The club is affiliated to Surrey FA. View the Surrey FA website by clicking here.

With the Surrey Football Association, we have worked hard to secure our own ground and commit ourselves to a long term future for the children of Caterham and the club. We have two girls football teams who compete in the Surrey Women and Girls League.

The club are always looking at ways to provide football for all and have a coach who has completed a course on coaching disabled footballers. We have future plans to start a team to compete in the Surrey disability league tournaments.

We are committed to providing football for pre-school ages and on Saturday 3rd May 2014 the club developed a partnership with Crystal Palace FC to provide a Mini Soccer centre for 4 to 8 year-olds. Now attracting nearly 150 regular participants, our Mini Soccer programme is headed up by Jamie Hardgrave and co-run by Palace for Life Foundation.

2011/2012 saw a number of our youth players join professional football club academies, showing the commitment our coaches have in providing the best possible start and progression for grassroot players. 2013/14 season we had a number of players join Crystal Palace advance centres as well as a player from our Under 11 team selected for the County team.
